How to document medications given prior to arrival

  1. Were medications given prior to your arrival by a licensed EMS provider authorized to do so? If yes, then the medication needs to be timestamped on the patient’s emeds chart under that provider’s credentials in the appropriate medications tab.
  2. Were the medication(s) given prior to your arrival by facility staff, family member, or self administered by patient prior to your arrival? If yes, then the medication(s) are documented in the patient’s emeds narrative with an approximate time you were told they were administered and the amount. Do not timestamp them in the medications tab in emeds.
